Best In Health Awards

The Best In Health Awards, formerly known as the THRIVE! Awards, are a time to celebrate the success of the organizations and community groups  who have been improving our community’s health. The awards are given in honor of Laurie Moran, founding convener and former coordinating committee member of The Health Collaborative. Her spirited passion and longstanding commitment to building a vibrant, healthier and more resilient Dan River Region, provided inspiration, strategic guidance and an inclusive leadership framework to The Health Collaborative.


What are the Best In Health Awards? 

Up to six Best In Health Awards will be presented to those organizations who are going above and beyond to make the healthy choice the easy choice in the places where we live, learn, work, play, pray and age. To qualify for a Best In Health Award, organizations, worksites,  schools, childcare providers, etc. must reside or have a place of operation within Caswell County, NC; City of Danville; VA or Pittsylvania County, VA.  The program, policy, or environment change must have taken place between November 1, 2019 and September 1, 2020. Organizations who win a Best in Health Award are eligible to receive a $500 honorarium to further their work.

What is the Change Maker Award? 

The  Change Maker Award highlights and celebrates community residents who are going above and beyond to improve the health and well-being of the Dan River Region. This award is designed specifically for individuals. To qualify, the individuals must reside in Caswell County, Danville, or Pittsylvania County. The efforts for which they are being nominated must have taken place between November 1, 2019 and September 1, 2020.

When will the celebration take place?

The celebration will take place virtually on Wednesday October 21st from 9-11 am as part of the 2020 Health Summit. By applying, you are acknowledging that you are willing to be recorded on video accepting your award. Winners will be contacted by the selection committee before the Health Summit.
